Little pitchers - New for 2012

I've been thinking of winter breakfasts and wanting to make some smallish pitchers for cream, maple syrup, etc. I wasn't getting around to throwing any, so I decided to try extruding some porcelain and hand building some. Here they are!

 Going left

                Then right

                                    Forward

                                                        and Reverse!

New Pottery!

I've been very efficient so far, washing new pots as they come out of the kiln and wrapping them up for the sale. But wait! Now I don't have any to photograph for the blog! So, here's a shot of the last few to go into the box. Some of my uberdecorated porcelain.

I've also been potting up some nice echeveria in my hand built stoneware planters. Those didn't get put in a box! Here they are.

I've got quite a bit of new stuff for the sale. As always, I'm looking forward to getting your feedback on it.

Have a great Thanksgiving and I'll see you in less that 2 weeks. Lisa

Lisa Krall – Feats of Clay
Lisa has been busy with her work through Wesleyan Potters, where she experiments with a variety of techniques and materials. She uses both hand building and wheel throwing to create her decorative and functional items in stoneware and porcelain. You’ll find bowls, cups, planters and more for charming and useful gifts.

Eileen Griffin – Photographer, Red Oak Hill Studio

Eileen is a nature photographer capturing landscapes, flora and fauna. She is fascinated by that certain slant of light when textures of nature reveal themselves. Once in awhile she also captures the whimsy of life either through people, statues, and animals. Her photography is available in a variety of sizes, all matted with both frames and unframed. Her popular note cards will also be available with and without decorative papers. She is also experimenting with new and different ways to display her photographs. All photographs are printed and matted with archival materials.

Guest Artists:

Mary Alice Neubeck – Amazon Creek Studio

Texture and color play into the hand knitted work of Mary Alice. Her search for unique yarns and her love of combining them can be seen in scarves, wraps, shawls and hand warmers.

In addition, Mary Alice and Eileen have teamed up to form Free Spirit Fibers and will feature hand-sewn pillows, placemats, table runners, and sachets.

Barbara Katz's Mummy Cats

The Mummy Cats arrived at the Silkworm Gallery on Friday. They couldn't wait to get inside and show off their style and colorful, organic glazes. They are patiently awaiting your arrival. They will be at home in your garden or on a shelf in your home.

No More Ducking or Bumping Your Head

The Little Red Barn has received a new entry way. It is safe to stand upright when you come to our door. The design and workmanship are fabulous. It is good to see a barn being kept up, rather than falling apart.

A Necklace of Many Colors from Stringing Them Along

This an example of the many delights you will find from Karen and Lynn of Stringing Them Along. Imagine wearing this necklace in the depths of our New England winter. It will brighten your day and your spirit.

View from the Castle

Walking through the castle in Cesky Krumlove, . which was built in the 1300's, I looked to my left and there was the kingdom below. It was spring when I was there, and after the houses caught my eye I then noticed the magnificent hills. Spring blossoms were abundant. This view would have afforded a good watch for enemies as they were approaching. One's imagination runs wild when walking through a castle.
This image will be available in a 20 x 30 framed piece and also some cards.

Free Spirits Fibers Unique Pillows

Here are two examples of Mary Alice's and Eileen's collaboration for Free Spirits Fibers. Eileen uses her photography skills and Mary Alice uses her fabric skills to create these two unique pillows. The pillow on the bottom is a photograph of a mannequin outside a garden shop in Victoria, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. The pillow on the top is a photograph of a fall bouquet from Eileen's garden. Eileen prints her images on fabric photo paper and then ships the result to Mary Alice in Oregon. The eye for choosing the right fabric and her training in new ways to put the fabrics together delivers to our customers one of a kind decorative pillows that will make a wonderful holiday gift for those on your list.

Early Fall Sunrise from Red Oak Hill Studio

Imagine my surprise when I was awakened by the sun in my eyes on an early fall morning. I could tell this was something special. I got out of bed to explore the view a little more, and what I saw was this glorious view. I grabbed my camera and tripod and quickly went outside. Sunrises and sunsets can change so rapidly. As I was capturing just the right angle and light I was reminded of how unique this time of day is.

This image will be available in 4 x 6 cards for $4.00 and a 20 x 30 framed and matted original giclee print for $160.00. Giclee is French for sprayed ink. All my images, including the cards, are printed with archival inks and the materials for the framed pieces are matted with archival materials. It is said these images will last for 75 years as long as they are not displayed in direct sun light. Eileen, Red Oak Studio

Amazon Creek Studio & Free Spirits Fibers

It has been a busy and rewarding year as I have been moving between the knitting needles and the sewing machine. I was happy to discover that a new shop with hand dyed yarns had opened in Eugene, and Laura, the owner, was able to meet my request for certain colorways. See her yarn in the photos of the wrap and the scarf. I was also able to take a workshop with quilter Jean Wells. She organizes the annual Sisters Quilt Show and is a wonderful teacher. You will see her influence in the pieces that I did with Eileen's images. I also fell for Asian inspired fabrics this year - catch them in the placemats and pillow shown below.
